The root of Chinese Foxglove is prepared by being cooked in red wine, making it warming and specifically for blood deficiency. It is one of the finest remedies for the liver yin and liver blood and is used overall to restore and regulate. Useful when symptoms such as fatigue, scanty or absent menses, heavy menses, dizziness and loss of stamina are present.
Codonopsis/Dang shen Codonopsis pilosula dried root
The root of Codonopsis is a sweet, gentle tonic that increases energy levels and helps the body adapt to stress. It is used in particular for tired limbs, general fatigue, and digestive problems. It is similar in action to ginseng, but is milder and less stimulating.
Chinese White Peony/Bai Shao Paeonia lactiflora dried root
The bitter and slightly cold root of White peony has a regulating effect in managing difficult and painful menstruation. It is a blood and yin tonic and will help blood deficiency states, as well as hot flashes and night sweats resulting from yin deficiency.

It is effective in the treatment of premature aging, loss of memory, dizziness and an unclear phychic vision of the world.
Chinese Atractylodes/Bai zhu Atractylodes macrocephala dried root
The rhizome of Chinese Atractylodes is sweet, bitter, and warm and is an important herb to tonify the essential energy or ‘Qi’. It is also supportive to the spleen and stomach function and is used when there is fatigue, appetite loss and indigestion.
Tuckahoe/Fu ling Poria cocos dried fungus
Tuckahoe fungus is sweet and neutral and often used as a tonic and diuretic in Chinese medicine. It is used to ‘drain dampness’ from the body and address conditions affecting the urinary system, such as fluid retention and difficulty passing urine.
Licorice/Zhi gan cao Glycyrrhizae uralensis toasted root
Chinese toasted Licorice root is warm and sweet and used to moderate and harmonize the characteristics of other herbs. It also treats deficient blood and energy patterns by improving resistance and vitality.

This formula is the classic Chinese preparation for deficient blood and depleted energy conditions. It is designed especially in consideration of woman’s physiology and is used for all menstrual problems that generate from depleted blood and ‘Qi’ or essential energy.
